US Legalization Procedures for Documents from Taiwan's Representative Office in Washington D.C.
Since 1995, US Legalization has assisted in certifying documents through the Taiwan Cultural Office (Taiwan Embassy) in Washington D.C.
The Embassy has recently implemented the following changes to its certification procedures:
Federal Documents:
Continue to be certified by the Taiwan Embassy in Washington D.C. Non-Federal Documents Issued Within the United States:
Must be initially certified by the relevant state authority.
Subsequent certification must be obtained from the designated Taiwan Consulate according to the jurisdiction table provided by the Embassy.
Certification from other states will not be accepted.
Documents Issued by Foreign Companies:
Will not be certified by the Embassy or Consulates, even if the document pertains to a U.S.-based company and includes a U.S. address.
Implications for ISO Bodies:
This policy change necessitates that all ISO bodies ensure their certificates accurately reflect their physical location within the United States. Certificates printed with locations in foreign countries will not be eligible for certification by the Taiwan Embassy or Consulates.
